Our Community
Wayne Township is located in northern Cass County, Michigan, sharing a border with Van Buren County. Our population is 2,654 residents (2010 census data). We have four school districts, Dowagiac, Decatur, Cassopolis and Marcellus.
Wayne Township is a wonderful rural community comprised of farmland, forests, subdivisions and lakes. We enjoy the peace that comes with rural community living but we are minutes away from services in the City of Dowagiac and within 30 minutes from larger community amenities offered in Mishawaka, IN, Kalamazoo, MI or St. Joseph, MI.

Wayne Township Adopts Data Center Moratorium
On August 10, 2026, the Wayne Township Board adopted an ordinance placing a moratorium on the construction or development of data centers within the boundaries of Wayne Township.
The Board also adopted a resolution directing the Wayne Township Planning Commission to establish a separate zoning moratorium on data centers.
The Planning Commission has been developing new zoning regulations to address data centers within the Township. These moratoriums will provide the Township and Planning Commission time to develop a well-considered and legally sound zoning ordinance addressing the issues associated with data center development and ensuring that any future development is compatible with the Wayne Township Master Plan.

The Wayne Township Annual Cleanup Day
will be on September 12, 2026. Please note that proof of township residence is required!
Wayne Township is compiling a list of companies that would like to bid on property clean up projects. This would include unsafe building projects or blighted properties that the courts have ordered cleaned up. To add your name to the list contact Judy Fusko at 269-782-7017.

Township Board meetings normally occur on the first Monday of the month at 6:30 pm unless that falls on a holiday or there is a election the next day.
